
Digital Heritage: Revival of the Value of Cultural Properties, a policy forum headed by the Cultural Heritage Administration was held at the National Palace Museum of Korea from July 8th to 11th to allow visitors to experience 4D technology. The event also provided d’strict CEO Chey Eun-seok an opportunity to give a presentation on the restoration and utilization of cultural properties using 4D technology.
Digital Heritage was an innovative showcase where visitors experienced virtual reality created by combining advanced 3D technology and display with NUI (Natural User Interface: a body-movement-controlled interface). On display were Hyper Stage Miniature, a 3D hologram stage; Hyper Circle, an interactive 3D panoramic (semi-circle) display; and Hyper Mask, an interactive augmented reality program with which users can select and play virtual instruments. Over the course of the 4 days, the event was attended by a great number of cultural officials as well as general public.

Miniature DIGILOG Art Performance Showcase: Opening event for the 2nd World Conference on Arts Education is a holographic reenactment of the 4D Digilog Art Performance which took place at the opening ceremony of the 2nd World Conference on Arts Education. The performance was a combination of 3D holographic visuals and gesture/sound sensing. Infused with realistic holographic visuals and the performance of Korea’s finest traditional artists, it was an unprecedented performance made possible by key figures of Korea’s cultural sector.

Hyper Stage is expected to significantly contribute to the restoration of our cultural properties by enabling the preservation and reenactment of tangible and intangible cultural properties that are vulnerable to loss.
Korea’s 4 Seasons and Samulnori / Hyper Mask

Korea’s 4 Seasons and Samulnori is a Hyper Mask program which enables users to enjoy Samulnori against a virtual backdrop of the beautiful 4 seasons of Korea. Various Samulnori instruments, including the janggu, buk, jing and kkwaenggwari, can be played with hand gestures and the background can be set to spring, summer, autumn or winter.
A Walk in the Clouds / Hyper Circle


A Walk in the Clouds lets users experience a maximized virtual reality on a panoramic display through various natural motions (walking, running, and jumping). A lifelike experience is provided in a virtual environment where users can walk, run and jump amongst digitally recreated cultural properties and natural environments.
Digital Heritage demonstrated a permanent preservation and utilization of cultural properties and the future of exhibition technology. In November, d’strict 4D Showcase is scheduled to take place at the War Memorial of Korea.
